An entomologist at Sydney Westmead Hospital, Cameron Webb, said that the going to and fro of travelers at the time of Sydney Games back in 2000 spread things around. And apparently, that includes bed bugs. And so, Webb advised Olympic-bound travelers to make sure that the pests are not brought back to their places.
According to a separate report, London airport is now handling record number of passengers. Its daily record back in July 2011 was 233 562. However, it now handles 236 955 passengers a day. And basically, that just means there is a much higher rate of bed bug spread in the city at the present. And given that pests are very good at hitchhiking in almost any item, it’s always possible that you could be their next victim.
