Just a few more days and Olympics 2012 will officially kick-off. But if you think that only humans will flock London in the coming days, you’re definitely wrong. Why, you might ask? It’s because bed bugs are also expected to horde the place. And so if you intend to visit the city to enjoy first-hand the biggest sporting event, it’s best that you know what you have to do to keep the pest away before you pack-up your suit case.

An entomologist at Sydney Westmead Hospital, Cameron Webb, said that the going to and fro of travelers at the time of Sydney Games back in 2000 spread things around. And apparently, that includes bed bugs. And so, Webb advised Olympic-bound travelers to make sure that the pests are not brought back to their places.

According to a separate report, London airport is now handling record number of passengers. Its daily record back in July 2011 was 233 562. However, it now handles 236 955 passengers a day. And basically, that just means there is a much higher rate of bed bug spread in the city at the present. And given that pests are very good at hitchhiking in almost any item, it’s always possible that you could be their next victim.

“The movement of travellers around the time of the Sydney Games helped to spread things around,” said Cameron Webb, an entomologist at Sydney’s Westmead Hospital. “Our message to visitors to London is make sure you’re not bringing them home.”

Bed bugs love high-traffic places. Needless to say, those places offer them an endless source of meal and a limitless ride to wherever. And because London will be a high-traffic city more than it already is the coming days, bed bugs will be feasting it.

Now, if you intend to go to London for the Olympics 2012, see to it that you know what you have to do to keep them off you or your things. And to save your place from their possible infestation, it’s best that you prepare a bed bug spray at home. Having one in your cupboard will help you implement an immediate bed bug elimination, in case they get past your preventive measures.

However, of all the bed bug products, pick the one made with natural ingredients. Non-toxic bed bug spray as Bed Bug Bully will spare you from the pests as well as from harmful chemical elements.
